A valve plate for a compressor and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to separately forge front and rear plates and assemble the same together by bolts and a gasket for sealing, thereby minimizing failure rate of the valve plate manufacture and improving productivity. A valve plate for a compressor includes a rear plate(1) having an inlet(11), an outlet(12) and a plurality of assembling holes(13), and a front plate(2) having a valve plate mounting hole(21) and a front outlet(22) at positions corresponding to the inlet and the outlet and a plurality of assembling holes(23), wherein the front plate is assembled at a front part of the rear plate by an assembling element(4) and sealed by a gasket(3). The assembling element has a plurality of bolts(41) coupled in mounting portions of the valve plate by penetrating the assembling holes of the front and rear plates. The gasket has a gasket hole(31) formed at positions corresponding to the inlet and the outlets. An insertion protrusion(111) is formed at the periphery of the inlet to be inserted into the gasket hole.
