The device has a robust case (20) including an alarm detection, analyzing and teletransmission units, impact sensors, and a verification unit to verify electrical continuity of an overhead cable e.g. overhead power transmission line (1). A continuous wire grounding the transmission line in its median zone is connected to secondary side of a transformer whose primary side is connected to a capacitor. The continuous wire has a wire length (21) fixed to the transmission line and a wire length (22) fixed to ground (10) via a tower (23).
