PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable video reproducing device which is easy to use. SOLUTION: The portable video reproducing device 1 of the present invention comprises: an input means of inputting a signal including a caption signal and a video signal; an extracting means of extracting the caption signal and video signal from the signal; a caption output means of decoding the extracted caption signal into captions and outputting them; a video output means of decoding the extracted video signal into video and outputting it; and a setting means of accepting a setting of whether a user's operation to output video is changed. For example, the setting means sets change of the operation and in this case, the video output means updates the video to be output when the output of captions is updated and does not update the video to be output when the output of the captions is not updated.
