PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FM receiver that can effectively reduce multipath distortion by an equalization algorithm with fast convergence and is suitably mounted on a vehicle. SOLUTION: The FM receiver extracts a distortion component produced in a pilot signal band from an FM composite signal obtained by demodulating an FM reception signal filtered by a variable coefficient filter, and controls the filter coefficient of the variable coefficient filter to minimize an evaluation function for the distortion component, thereby obtaining equalization characteristics having superior convergence for change in multipath environment.
