PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for automatically updating software which, when a plurality of versions of software exist, is capable of automatically selecting the most suitable version of the software without being restricted by the just previous version. SOLUTION: The system has a start/stop managing application 103 for managing the start and stop of a function-based application 100 and the updates of software, the function-based application being executed by a computer device for managing the manufacture or inspection of products. The start/stop managing application 103 has a version selecting part 105 for selecting a particular version from a plurality of versions owned for the function-based application 100.
