PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support to permit setting up proper retrieval conditions in association with the knowledge of a retrieval object field and the operation of a user. SOLUTION: This device stores use frequency information on the retrieval conditions, cooccurrence frequency information among the retrieval conditions, relationship information specific to the field, use history information for each retrieval condition, and related use history information to databases 130, 140, refers the databases based on the set up retrieval conditions, calculates the degree of recommendation of the other retrieval conditions, and arranges at a prominent position the retrieval conditions having higher possibility to be used simultaneously with the set up retrieval conditions with the high degree of recommendation. The degree of recommendation is calculated from the magnitude of cooccurrence frequency among the retrieval conditions, the history of simultaneous setups, the estimated number of retrieval results, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
