PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using a scanning exposure device capable of preventing image slippage, wherein the posture of each motor for a rotary polygon mirror is made uniform even in the case a plurality of scanning exposure devices separately having the common rotating polygon mirror in a common optical box are arranged in the image forming apparatus without uniformizing the directions of the scanning exposure devices. SOLUTION: The motor 24 is fixed to three motor attachment parts 20b arranged outside the optical box 20 from beneath the optical box 20. The outside diameter of a circular positioning part 24al arranged coaxial to the rotating shaft on the stator of the motor 24 is fitted to the inside diameter of a cylindrical positioning part 20a provided in the optical box 20, then, the polygon mirror 23 attached to the rotor of the motor 24 is positioned. In the case the optical box 20 is arranged head down to the image forming apparatus, the motor 24 and the polygon mirror 23 are fixed head down to the circular positioning part 24al.
