A roll paper printer is provided to prevent a paper from being jammed by a step difference between roll paper guides that define sides of a roll paper receiving section. A roll paper printer comprises a roll paper receiving section(9), first and second position determination members(31,32), and an urging member(37). The first and second position determination members(31,32) are located at the position at which the first and second position determination members make contact with or face the outer peripheral surfaces of two ends of a paper roll in the roll paper receiving section(9). The urging member(37) urges the first and second position determination members toward the two ends of the paper roll. The urging member(37) comprises a tension spring connected between the first and second position determination members. The first and second position determination members have roll paper guide surfaces for guiding the roll paper, respectively.
