PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device capable of sticking a memo onto the standard screen of a portable telephone unit in a form corresponding to the taste of a user, and confirming an image displayed on the standard screen easily. SOLUTION: There are provided: a display section 14 for displaying the standard screen, so called a standby screen; an operation section 15 having a plurality of keys including an on-hook key; and a control circuit 17 that can display a data display region corresponding to text data in a memory selected by the user optionally in parallel and performs control so that the corresponding text data are displayed when the data display region is selected. When the on-hook key is operated while the data display region is displayed on the standard screen, the entire data display region is deleted while the standard screen is maintained. When the on-hook key is operated while the data display region is not displayed on the standard screen, the data display region is displayed on the standard screen, thus enabling the presence of the memo, and the standard screen to be confirmed easily.
