PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use the same rack in the case where a differential gear mechanism is adopted and in the case where it is not adopted. SOLUTION: In the steering device, a constitution that a lower end of a steering shaft 2 provided with a steering wheel 1 and a first pinion 5 engaged with the rack for steering a pair of steering wheels 3 by being moved in a vehicle body left/right direction are connected and a constitution that the differential gear mechanism 7 is interposed are selectively adopted. The differential gear mechanism 7 has an input shaft 8 connected to the lower end of the steering shaft 2 and an output shaft 9 connected to the first pinion 5 and rotated in a reverse direction to a rotation direction of the input shaft 8; and a steering angle ratio control motor 10 for controlling a ratio of number of revolution of the output shaft 9 to the number of revolution of the input shaft. A front surface rack tooth 4a and a rear surface rack tooth 4b are formed on both surfaces of the rack 4 abutted with the first pinion 5 at the approximately same position in a longitudinal direction of the rack 4, respectively.
