A roller assembly for the pressure treatment of materials comprises a roller having a metal or plastic outer cover 1 rotatable about a stationary core 3, the ends 23 of which are acted upon by pneumatic or liquid pressure actuated pistons each operable within a cylinder 24. The annular space between the core and the cover adjacent the cover roller pressure treatment operating surface locates a flexible, e.g., rubber, member 21 which is inflated to desired pressures by the pneumatic or liquid pump and pipe system 27, 26, 29, 25, which feeds the cylinders 24. A sheet of packing material 22 is interposed between the member 21 and the cover. |
