PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material which excels in pre-exposure storage stability while having low fog, excels also in stability of a silver image after heat development, and provides high maximum density even by short-time heat development. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has a photosensitive layer containing a photosensitive emulsion, a reducing agent and a binder on a support, wherein the photosensitive layer contains a hydrophobic protective colloidal fine particle dispersion prepared by adding a dispersant having a functional group with an affinity for a hydrophilic group of a protective colloid to an aqueous dispersant solution of silver halide fine particles dispersed with a hydrophilic natural polymer dispersant as the protective colloid, and the photosensitive layer contains a binder having a polymerization degree of 600-3,000 and a binder having a polymerization degree of 100-400.
