PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector for enlarging and projecting a picture such as a moving picture or a still picture to a front screen, wherein electronic parts are hardly influenced by heat from a light source while it is made small in size and light in weight and inexpensive. SOLUTION: A housing 2 is divided into a first housing part 2A arranged forward in its front-and-rear direction, and a second housing part 2B arranged backward therein, and a cavity part 4 is formed between the first housing part 2A and the second housing part 2B, so that the first housing part 2A and the second housing part 2B are thermally insulated. The light source 11, a color wheel 13, a reflector (light condensing member) 12, a DMD 17 and a projection lens 18 are housed in the first housing part 2A, and a DMD driving circuit 21, a total control circuit 22, a light source driving circuit 23 and a power source circuit 24 are housed in the second housing part 2B.
