904,245. Two-part couplings. EVER READY CO. (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd., and KNIGHT, G. P. March 9, 1961 [March 14, 1960], No. 8967/60. Class 38 (1). A contact supporting element comprises a sheet 6 of moulded insulating material formed with a shallow recess 7 in one face which has a narrow channel 8 extending almost across the width of the sheet and containing pockets 9 integral with the sheet to accommodate and shroud tubular shaped socket contacts 10. Claws 11 on each contact 10 engage the periphery of each pocket 9 and an integral tag 12 on one contact extends away therefrom and may be connected, as shown, to central electrodes 4 of battery cells 2, a similar tag on the other contact being connected to the other electrodes 3 comprising the cell casings. Two channels 13 with dimples 14 provide stiffening ribs and suppprting projections on the underside of sheet 6, bearing on insulating capping discs 5 of the cells 2 to support the socket 1 on insertion of plug pins. A sheet 15 of the same material as sheet 6 may be solvent welded thereto, apertures in sheet 15 overlying the pockets 9. Pockets 9 may be provided for four or more socket contacts, and the socket 1 may be mounted on the side of the cell assembly if required. |
