903,792. Turbine and compressor blades. SULZER FRERES S.A. Jan. 12, 1960 [Jan. 20, 1959], No. 1164/60. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). To provide damping for the oscillation of an axial flow compressor blade, or as shown a turbine blade, a resilient element is disposed between the blade mounting and the root of the blade near the profiled part, the element resiliently supporting the blade from the blade mounting in all directions transverse to the blade axis. The blade 2 is secured to the rotor 1 by a collar 7 and nuts 6 disposed on the root 4 of the blade. Clamped between that part 9 of the root near the profiled part. of the blade and a part 11 of the rotor is an annular resilient element 12 having a U-shaped cross-section. The element 12 may be of steel and may be of double U cross-section or be of a bellows-like cross-section. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, wherein the blade 2 is rotatable about its axis 13, the resilient element comprises a ring of rubber or synthetic plastics and provided with inner and outer binding rings 19, 21. The element is disposed between the part 9 of the root and a ball bearing 17.
