The method involves bringing a gaseous fire extinguishing agent from a container (2) into a closed area (1), where spatial pressure is not increased during entry of the agent. Same amount of the agent is released into the area. Mixture of spatial air and gas is conducted from the area (1) into an additional area. The additional area is quickly extended as the agent flows into the area (1). The fire arising is detected by sensors (5), where the agent under pressure is released into the closed area and the additional area is simultaneously opened for the gas provided in the closed area.
