The conveyor has a vehicle frame (1), and two load wheels (7), which are arranged at a front end. A guidable drive wheel (6) with a traction drive engine is arranged in a rear area of the frame. An electronic control unit (10) controls the drive engine. The load wheels are movable relative to the frame in a longitudinal direction in such a manner that horizontal distance of the load wheels to the drive wheel is variable. The control unit is designed such that a maximum value for driving speed is calculated based on a horizontal position of the load wheels.
