PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify an engagement structure for retaining a support part for receiving a head part of an active head rest to a posture position for forwardly moving it. SOLUTION: In the head rest for the vehicle seat, the support part 3a for receiving the head part at rear collision of the vehicle can be relatively moved relative to a support bracket 3c. The head rest has a four-joint link mechanism 10; a tension spring Sa for urging this in a turning direction of advancement; and a pivot support member 30 becoming a stopper of turning of the four-joint link mechanism 10. The four-joint link mechanism 10 is made to a position relationship that receiving load for receiving the head of the occupant by the support part 3a is functioned as pressing force for turning the four-joint link mechanism in a turning direction of advancement, i.e., an abutment direction with the pivot support member 30 in the collision corresponding position state of the support part 3a that turning in the advancement direction is restricted by abutment with the pivot support member 30.
