A deicer composition is provided to be superior in both deicing performances and corrosion-inhibiting performances. A deicer composition includes a mixture of a deicer and a corrosion inhibitor. The corrosion inhibitor comprises at least one polyhydroxy carboxylic acid or at least one salt of polyhydroxy carboxylic acid. The at least one polyhydroxy carboxylic acid comprises at least one aldaric acid or aldonic acid, and the salt comprises at least one salt of at least one aldaric acid or aldonic acid. The corrosion inhibitor is present in a concentration of about 0.1-10wt%, and reduces corrosion to mild steel by about 33% as compared with an deicer composition without a corrosion inhibitor.
