OPTICAL PLATE FOR SURFACE LIGHT SOURCE AND BACKLIGHT UNIT HAVING THE SAME

An optical plate for a surface light source and a backlight unit having the same are provided to improve optical efficiency of the backlight unit by improving focusing and transmittance properties of the light, which is emitted from the surface light source. First and second patterns(210a,210b) are formed on upper and lower surfaces of an optical plate(210), respectively. The first pattern improves a focusing property of the light, which is emitted from a surface light source. The surface light source is arranged under the optical plate. The first pattern decreases a bright line, which is generated due to a partition of the surface light source. The second pattern improves a brightness uniformity of the optical plate and prevents degradation of a transmittance property of the optical plate. The first pattern is formed in a bar-like shape, which is elongated in one direction.
