<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe which shows improved operability and alleviates pain suffered by a subject. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe is equipped with a body cavity insertion portion equipped with an ultrasonic transducer at the distal end to be inserted into a body cavity, a grasping part for supporting the body cavity insertion portion, and a puncture adapter which is attached to at least the body cavity insertion portion and has a puncture opening formed almost along the body cavity insertion portion for inserting a puncture needle.
