PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detection apparatus capable of avoiding incorrect detection of liquid levels caused by electrostatic noise even if a sample container is electrically charged. SOLUTION: The liquid level detection apparatus 1 detects changes in the electrostatic capacitance between a probe 3 for dispensing a liquid sample containing a specimen or a reagent held in a container 6 and the container 6 and determines whether a lower end of the probe is in contact with a liquid level of the liquid sample on the basis of detected signals. A cover member 4 made of a tube body having an electrical insulating property and holding the lower end of the probe inside a lower opening end 4d of the tube body is arranged outside the probe 3.
