PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine brake capable of operating in a manner faithful to driver's intention while ensuring the ease of operation. SOLUTION: An ECU implements a program including a step for controlling a sequential shift if a position of a shift lever is an M position (YES at S200) and Nm indicating the number of the up-shift or down-shift operation of the shift lever is 1 or larger (YES at S202) (S204), a step for performing engine brake range control if Nm is not 1 (NO at S202) (S206) or larger, and a step for performing usual CVT speed change control if the position of the shift lever is not the M position (NO at S200) (S208).
