PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner which has satisfactory dispersibility into a thermoplastic resin and satisfactory coloring properties, has excellent transparency and color reproduction, and has excellent heat resistance, electrostatic properties, and offset resistance. SOLUTION: This is the electrophotographic toner in which coloring particulates comprising pigment expressed by general formula (1) and capable of chelating with metal, and a compound expressed by general formula (2) are dispersed into a thermoplastic resin; wherein, Q and Z<SB>1</SB>denote a 5 or 6-membered ring, respectively; Z<SB>2</SB>denotes a group of atoms forming 4 to 6-membered rings; L<SB>1</SB>, L<SB>2</SB>, L<SB>3</SB>, L<SB>4</SB>and L<SB>5</SB>denote a substitutional or nonsubstitutional methine group; and R<SB>12</SB>denotes a substitutional group having a group capable of chelating. The general formula (2) is M(X<SB>1</SB>)<SB>m</SB>(X<SB>2</SB>)<SB>1</SB>×(W<SB>1</SB>)<SB>s</SB>; wherein, M denotes the bivalent ion of Ni, Co, Zn or Cu; X<SB>1</SB>and X<SB>2</SB>denote ligands; (m), (l) and (s) denote the integer of 0 to 2 and m+l>1 is satisfied; and (W<SB>1</SB>)<SB>s</SB>denotes a counterion required to neutralize electric charges.
