A centrifugal multi-blade fan (1) having a disc (2) rotated by a motor (5) and a large number of bent, oblong plate-shaped blades (4). The blades (4) are arranged in the circumferential direction on the outer periphery of the disc (2) so as to form a circular tube-like cage open on the front face side of the disc (2). The fan (1), when rotated, draws air from the opening on the front face side of the disc (2) and blows out the air in the centrifugal direction between the blades (4) on the outer periphery. Each blade (4) is made up of a thick plate section (4b) near the disc (2) and a thin plate section (4a) thinner than the thick plate section (4b) and away from the disc (2). A step section (11) as the boundary between the thick plate section (4b) and the thin plate section (4a) is formed on the negative pressure surface (9a, 9b) side, or the convex side, of each blade (4).
