KIT FOR DIAGNOSING DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

A kit for diagnosing diabetic retinopathy is provided to improve rapidness and convenience of diagnosis by using genotypes of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and VEGF receptor 1(VEGFR1), so that retinopathy caused by diabetes is diagnosed at an early stage and diabetic complications are anticipated. A kit for diagnosing diabetic retinopathy comprises (a) a primer for PCR(polymerase chain reaction) amplification of VEGF and VEGFR1 genes, and (b) at least one restriction enzyme selected from Nsp I(nitro stack protein I), Bsr I(blasticidin resistance), N1a III and Hsp92(heat shock protein 92) II and has the nucleotide sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:1 to SEQ NO: 30. A method for diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy comprises the steps of: collecting a tissue or fluid sample from a patient; extracting DNA from the sample; amplifying the extracted DNA by using the primer through PCR; treating the PCR product with the restriction enzymes; subjecting the enzyme-treated product to electrophoresis; and analyzing the DNA pattern of electrophoresed gel.
