<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can calculate an appropriate amount of pig-iron scrap to be charged into a dephosphorization furnace. <P>SOLUTION: A method for operating a converter, which decarburizes the charged scrap while melting it in a top-blown converter, includes decarburizing the scrap while controlling the scrap so as to satisfy the relationship that a radius of the scrap r<SB>c</SB>is a radius of the scrap to be completely melted r<SB>c, 100%</SB>or smaller, and controlling a stirring power of the top-blown airε<SB>T</SB>and a stirring power of the bottom-blown airε<SB>B</SB>so as to satisfy the relationships of 0.6≤ε<SB>T</SB>/ε<SB>B</SB>≤1.5, 800≤ε<SB>T</SB>≤1,200, and 600≤ε<SB>B</SB>≤1,400, in order to completely melt the scrap in a blowing period of time set at 13.5 to 16 minutes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
