PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of preventing a user from overlooking a broadcasting program suitable for his/her taste. SOLUTION: A television receiving set informs a user of the context of the broadcasting program at optional timing out of timing of judging that the broadcasting program is on the air, timing of a prescribed time left before the start of broadcasting the program, and timing of detecting a highlighted scene. As mentioned above, the television receiving set informs the user of the context of the program, whereby the user is capable of knowing that the program is now on the air, the program is being broadcast, or a highlighted scene is detected in the program. By this setup, the user can be prevented from falling into a state wherein he or she does not know or forgets that the program is broadcast, and he or she is capable of being prevented from overlooking the program by pushing down either an information switching button or a channel selection button of an input unit 30 to switch a channel.
