PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst warm-up system for an internal combustion engine, capable of suitably and promptly activating an exhaust gas purifying catalyst independently of the change of atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: An air pump 60 is provided on the upstream side of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 33 arranged in an exhaust pipe 32 of the internal combustion engine 2 for supplying air. It supplies air during the warm-up of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 33. An atmospheric pressure sensor 53 is provided for detecting atmospheric pressure. During the warm-up of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst 33, it corrects a degree of increasing the amount of fuel to be higher as the atmospheric pressure detected by the atmospheric pressure sensor 53 is lower.
