PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application pattern data-generating apparatus and a method for a paste applicator easy in inputting a set application pattern by a paste applicator, reducing a possibility of error. SOLUTION: This application pattern data-generating apparatus includes: a pattern data generating means generating the application pattern data from read drawing data; a storing means storing the application pattern data generated by the pattern data generating means; an output screen forming means including a graphic image forming means forming a graphic image of an actual pattern configuration from the application pattern data generated by the pattern data generating means, and an image composition means forming an output screen including the graphic image formed by the graphic image forming means; a screen output means outputting the graphic image formed by the output screen forming means; and a data output means outputting the application pattern data stored in the storing means to the outside for use in the paste applicator.
