The system has a central computer (2) and diagnostic devices (20, 31-34) that are adjusted to select a vehicle configuration and to convey the configuration to the computer. The computer is adjusted to provide diagnostic functions available for a vehicle model to the diagnostic devices and to execute the vehicle diagnosis by controlling the devices according to a type of a remote access by the computer. An independent claim is also included for a method for execution of vehicle diagnostics.
