摘要 <p>This invention provides a glass vessel for lighting, which can eliminate the need to form a protective film and, at the same time, can realize a high level of processability, and can realize a fluorescent lamp having a high level of brightness, and a method for manufacturing the same. The glass vessel for lighting is characterized in that the ratio between the proportion of Na, i.e., Ra, present on the inner surface of the glass vessel and the proportion of Na, i.e., Rb, present in a part of 100 nm depth from the inner surface, i.e., Ra/Rb, is not more than 1. The method for manufacturing a glass vessel for lighting is characterized by washing a glass tube with pure water or an aqueous solution, having an Na&lt;SUP&gt;+&lt;/SUP&gt; content of not more than 10 ppm. The glass vessel for lighting can be used not only as glass bulbs in various fluorescent lamps such as rod- ring- or flat-type fluorescent lamps or U-shaped, spiral, or other compact-type fluorescent lamps, but also as glass bulbs in mercury lamps or other lamps for lighting.Further, the glass vessel can be used in any application without particular limitation, for example, in general lighting applications and backlights in liquid crystal panel displays.</p>
