A load control method and a turbine engine control system are provided to set a control output of a controller as a final value of a treating variable by determining a maximum value of the treating variable and increasing the control output of the controller within a permitted limit. A method of controlling load to a machine using a controller comprises the steps of: determining a maximum value of a treating variable related to a machine using a predictive control model, while the control output of the controller related to the treating variable is kept constant during a predictive period(304); increasing the control output of the controller if the maximum value of the treating variable is within a permitted limit(312); and setting the control output of the controller as a final value of the treating variable not to exceed the permitted limit(318). A turbine engine control system comprises multiple sensors to determine the state of a turbine engine and a processor to perform the load control method.
