<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving working efficiency by shortening a distance between a user and an image reading section, and to provide a support. <P>SOLUTION: A bottom plate 68 is disposed at the bottom of the support 60. A cassette space 69 in which the rear end of a paper feed cassette 46 can be accommodated is arranged between the bottom plate 68 and a lower connection plate 66. The cassette space 69 is constituted of support pieces 62A and 62B, the lower connection plate 66 and the bottom plate 68. When size of the paper feed cassette 46 is longer than the depth of a frame 30, the rear end of the paper feed cassette 46 projects from the frame 30 and is accommodated in the cassette space 69.
