PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video receiving apparatus and an erroneous distribution preventing method capable of effectively preventing the erroneously distributed of a video and quickly achieving recovery from a failure.

SOLUTION: The erroneous distribution preventing method, which prevents video in a video receiving apparatus 500 provided with a plurality of video output interfaces for converting data included in a packet transmitted via a network into video and outputting the video from being erroneously distributed, comprises: a process for making a video output interface 5102receive vide transmitted from a second path via a third path before changing a path through which a video output interface 5101receives video from a first path to the second path; and a process for verifying the sameness between the video received by the video output interface 5101and the video received by the video output interface 5102after changing the path through which the video output interface 5101receives the video from the first path to the second path.
