摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which attains high quality display by excluding accumulation of ions generated in an inner part of a liquid crystal, is miniaturized and has excellent performance. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display provided with a silicon circuit board 2 having a display region 7 comprising a plurality of pixel electrodes 6 disposed in a matrix shape and a glass substrate 3 opposed to the silicon circuit board 2 and having a counter electrode 10 comprising a transparent conductive film, the liquid crystal 4 is encapsulated between the silicon circuit board 2 and the glass substrate 3, a nearly ring-shaped electronic break line region 8 is formed around the display region 7, the electronic break line region 8 is constituted as an electronic break line means of the display region 7 in a display operating mode displaying an image in the display region 7 and the electronic break line region 8 is constituted as a sweep-up means of ions in the inner part of the liquid crystal in a non-display operation mode displaying no image in the display region 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
