PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ease a limit about an amplitude to be permitted while keeping linearity of force acting on a diaphragm of an electrostatic type speaker. SOLUTION: The electrostatic type speaker of the invention substantially comprises electrodes of 21 and 22 which are faced each other, a diaphragm 10, and elastic members 30 which are respectively inserted in spaces between the electrodes 21 and 22 and the diaphragm 10. The elastic members 30 are characterized to have elastic property which produces restoring force corresponding to a high order term of electrostatic force Fm acting to the diaphragm 10 by the electrodes 21 and 22.
