PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a control mechanism, improve control responsiveness and fuel economy, and reduce noises, by utilizing a common rail system in which a microcomputer controls the amount or timing of fuel to be injected from an accumulation chamber where fuel mixture is accumulated at high pressure to each cylinder of an engine. SOLUTION: Three engine control modes are set as a travel mode S, a normal work mode W, and a heavy work mode HW to control the engine at an optimum value which is led by using an acceleration torque map AM showing a relationship between a dedicated revolution speed and output torque matching to each control mode with change-over among these control modes, an injection timing map TM showing a main injection timing with a relationship between the revolution speed and a fuel injection amount, a rail pressure map LM showing rail pressure with a relationship between the revolution speed and the fuel injection amount, and a pilot map PM showing a pilot injection frequency with a relationship between the revolution speed and the fuel injection amount.
