PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rainwater permeating basin forming construction method of an existing rainwater basin, capable of inexpensively and quickly constructing a rainwater permeating basin, by processing the existing rainwater basin. SOLUTION: A bottomed cylindrical basin body 12 constituting the existing rainwater basin 10, is processed in a state of being still buried in the ground, and a through-hole 24 is formed in its bottom part. A permeating member storage hole 26 is formed by excavating earth existing in a lower part of the through-hole 24. The existing rainwater basin 10 is altered into the rainwater permeating basin 11, by arranging a porous permeating member 13 in its permeating member storage hole 26. The permeating member 13 comprises a pipe 31 having a plurality of through-holes 33 on a peripheral surface, and a permeable strainer 32 having a plurality of pores 34 finer than the plurality of through-holes 33 and insertably-extractably arranged in the pipe 31.
