PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with which defective alignment of liquid crystal molecules in the vicinity of a peripheral section of a pixel electrode is prevented, and thereby display characteristics are improved by suppressing reversal of display while maintaining an aperture ratio and retaining bright display, and which has excellent response speed, in the liquid crystal display device which conducts a frame inversion mode driving. SOLUTION: In the active matrix liquid crystal display device which conducts the frame inversion mode driving to invert a voltage applied to each pixel electrode 5 with the identical polarity for every frame, the pixel electrodes 5 placed adjacent to each other are separated with a spacing d of 1μm or less.
