An engine ECU executes a program including a step (S106) for setting the crank angle searching range at a peak value P which is the largest integration value in the vibration waveform of an engine detected by calculating an integration value obtained by integrating an output voltage value from a knock sensor at every 5 degree of crank angle such that a larger crank angle is included for a higher number of revolutions NE of the engine, and a step (S110) for detecting a crank angle at the largest integration value within the searching range and setting the detected crank angle as the crank angle at a peak value P in the vibration waveform. At a crank angle referring to a crank angle at a peak value P, the vibration waveform is compared with a knock waveform model.
