A drum type washing machine having a ball balancer and a method for manufacturing the ball balancer for the drum type washing machine are provided to improve impact resistance and earthquake resistance by forming hollow parts in ball balancer housings. A drum type washing machine having a ball balancer comprises a main body, a rotary tub, and a ball balancer(30) installed in the rotary tub. The ball balancer comprises ball balancer housings(33, 40), and a reinforcing structure formed on the ball balancer housings to reinforce strength of the ball balancer housings. The reinforcing structure is hollow parts(44) formed in the ball balancer housings. The ball balancer housings include an outer wall, an inner wall, and a ball transfer path. The hollow parts are formed on an outer periphery and an inner periphery of the ball balancer housings.
