A method for preparing a polymethacrylic resin having a branched structure, and a polymethacrylic resin prepared by the method are provided to obtain a polymethacrylic resin having a branched structure to be polymerized stably under uniform stirring condition by bulk polymerization for improving productivity. A method for preparing a polymethacrylic resin having a branched structure comprises the steps of mixing a monomer mixture comprising an alkyl methacrylate and an alkyl acrylate, a multifunctional radical initiator, and a molecular weight controller; injecting the mixture into a reactor to polymerize until the polymerization ratio reaches 45-65 %; and removing the unreacted monomers, wherein the multifunctional radical initiator is 2,2-bis(4,4-di-t-butylperoxycyclohexyl)propane, polyether tetrakis(t-butylperoxy carbonate), or their mixture.
