PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device having a structure which is simpler than a conventional opening and closing device. SOLUTION: A second closure cylinder space 19 and a second open cylinder space 22 of a second piston-cylinder unit 9 are connected to a first closure cylinder space 14 and a first open cylinder space 17 of a first piston-cylinder unit 2, respectively. On the closure of the opening and closing device, the cylinder spaces 14, 17, 19 and 22 are pressurized. On the opening of the opening and closing device, only the first and second open cylinder spaces 17, 22 are pressurized. A first closure piston face 15 is wider than a first open piston face 18. A second closure piston face 20 is wider than a second open piston face 23. An area ratio of the first closure piston face 15 and the first open piston face 18 is higher than that of the second closure piston face 20 and the second open piston face 23.
