PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crack or leakage on the inner wall surface of a pressure part and a molten metal discharge part to stably secure the pressure in the pressure part, and to prevent leakage of molten metal in the molten metal discharge part. SOLUTION: The molten metal retaining furnace 1 for two-room type low pressure casting comprises lining members 34, 35, in which each inner wall surface of the pressure part 32 and the molten metal discharge part 33 comprises an integrally calcined article made of cylindrical fine ceramics. At this time, the lower end 34a of the lining member 34 of the pressure part 32 is disposed at a position lower than the molten metal surface level L22upon completion of filling the molten metal into a cavity of a mold, while the upper end 35b of the lining member 35 of the molten metal discharge part 33 is disposed at a position higher than the upper limit molten metal surface level L11of a molten metal retaining chamber 11, and the lower end 35a thereof is disposed at a position lower than the molten metal surface level L23upon releasing the pressure inside the pressure part 32.
