For production of a metal graphite brush material for motor in which copper particles can be superimposed all over the surface of graphite particles, there is provided a process comprising the adhesion step (S1) of bringing graphite particles into contact with a solution of copper complex so as to attain adhesion of the copper complex; the heat treatment step (S2) of conducting heat treatment of the graphite particles having the copper complex adhering thereto in an oxygenous atmosphere so as to decompose the copper complex with the result that copper particles are superimposed over the surface of graphite particles; the molding step (S3) of molding the graphite particles having the copper particles superimposed thereon to thereby obtain a molded item; and the reduction firing step (S4) of not only firing the molded item in a reducing atmosphere to thereby obtain a sintered body but also reducing to copper any copper oxide formed in the surface layer of the copper particles in the heat treatment step (S2), wherein in the adhesion step (S1), the solution contains an organometallic compound having a hydrolyzable group or hydroxyl and an organic functional group with lone electron pair.
|
