A washing machine having a balancer is provided to reduce collision velocity of mass bodies and decrease noise due to collision of mass bodies by forming ribs projected from walls of balancer housings. A washing machine having a balancer comprises a housing, a rotary tub installed in the housing, and a balancer(20) placed at the rotary tub. The balancer comprises balancer housings(21), mass bodies(23), and ribs(24). The balancer housings include a race(22), wherein the mass bodies are movably installed, as a ring shaped space inside. The ribs are projected from walls of the balancer housings to be contacted with the mass bodies. The ribs are separated each other along at least one periphery of an outer periphery or an inner periphery of the race, and along two sides of the race. |
