APPARATUS FOR RECORDING/REPRODUCING DATA ON A DISC USING PADDING INFORMATION AND INFORMATION STORAGE MEDIUM THEREOF

A recording and reproducing device using padding information and an information storage medium are provided to improve reproducing reliability thereof by dividing valid data and invalid data in an error correcting block. A recording and reproducing device comprises a pickup unit(1) and a control unit(2). The pickup unit radiates beam to record information at a disc(100). The control unit pads a part of a data frame for a recording unit block at '00h' and controls the pickup unit to record the padding information. An information storage medium comprises a reproducing/recording unit block and padding information. The reproducing/ recording unit block includes a plurality of data frames. The padding information indicates whether each data frame of the reproducing/recording unit block is padded at '00h'.
