An IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)1394 A/V(Audio/Video) network system and a network configuration method thereof are provided to switch an input signal in an IEEE1394 input terminal if an intermediate apparatus abnormally operates, thereby forming a new connection to the rest of apparatuses except apparatuses connected to an IEEE1394 network. A digital interface apparatus checks an internal power state(810). If a power off state is sensed, the digital interface apparatus transmits a bus reset command to other digital interface apparatuses which constitute a network, and bypasses a connected digital interface bus signal to the other digital interface apparatuses(820-860). If a power on state is sensed, the digital interface apparatus transmits a bus reset command to the digital interface apparatuses, and inputs a digital interface bus signal to configure a network map(830,832).
