<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing apparatus eliminating only noise contained in a vertical synchronizing signal in an image signal used to form an image on specified paper. <P>SOLUTION: An MFP controller 100 which is a data processing apparatus generates a masking vertical synchronizing signal which is vertical synchronizing signal masked by a masking circuit 141 during a masking period which is up to a point immediately before the vertical synchronizing signal is made active. The vertical synchronizing signal starts from a specified starting point when data transmission by a DMA controller 131 is made possible to a terminating point made to be after passage of a specified time timed by a time counter 142 from when a PRINT_START 1 command fed from an engine communication control part 150 to an engine controller 200 by a decoder 143 is detected.
